Beatles For Sale: The Beatles Are Coming to LEGO

Beatles For Sale: The Beatles Are Coming to LEGO

Can't buy me love?  Well, it turns out you will be able to buy me and many other Beatles fans love very soon. As a huge fan of The Beatles and, obviously, a huge fan of LEGO, I am absolutely ecstatic about today's announcement regarding the latest LEGO Ideas review results.  LEGO officially announced that two out of the nine submissions to reach 10,000 supporters during the period of September of 2015 through January of 2016 are scheduled to become official LEGO products later this year and early 2017.  The first set announced was The Beatles Yellow Submarine by kevinszeto.  Once I found out that this Idea had reached 10,000 supporters and was up for review to become an official LEGO set, I could barely keep the Beatles/LEGO fanboy in me under control.

The LEGO community seems surprised by LEGO's decision to go with a Beatles set, but it doesn't surprise me at all.  The Beatles are still incredibly popular across many age groups.  I've been seeing a lot of comments regarding how a Beatles set in which only older adults are interested.  I think this is a miscalculation of how many children, teenagers, and young adults love the Beatles.  I've been a Beatles fan since I was very young, and I would have loved to have had this set when I was a child.  Additionally, this set has strong potential to be a popular product outside of the typical LEGO-buying consumer base.  This is the Bealtes, so many people will buy this set simply because it's The Beatles, regardless of their interest in LEGO.  When it's finally released, this set will be an incredible display piece for any Beatles fan wanting to display their love for legendary British band, and I think we'll be seeing people who haven't purchased a LEGO set in years or maybe never at all buying this set.

I am so very happy that this set will soon be an official LEGO release.  A huge thank you to kevinszeto for designing this model and submitting it.  A huge thank you to LEGO for approving it.  A world in which Beatles minifigures exist is just an overall brighter world for all of us.  Now, it's just the long, impatient wait until The Beatles Yellow Submarine set finally hits store shelves and online stores.  Do you disagree?  Do you think approving this set was a poor decision by LEGO?  Or are you as unbelievably excited as I am that this will soon be an official LEGO product?  Please leave a comment below and let me know your thoughts regarding LEGO's choice to release this set.
